Protein is the main building material for our muscles and our body. Without it bad things can happen. You need to eat a diet of high-quality protein. You would literally die without it.

The protein you ingest is broken down by your bodies digestive system. Enzymes do the work to break down the protein into amino acids. Your body takes those amino acids and uses them as the building blocks for your muscles and organs. These amino acids are used to build new tissue. Some are used to make certain hormones and enzymes that are important for your body to function optimally and to release fat stores.
What isn't used to build tissue is used to synthesize fibrino-gen, purines, and creatine to name a few.
Protein will also help the pancreas to produce glucagon which is a hormone that aids in wweight loss by releasing stored fat used for energy.
However, the glucagon can be blocked by excessive insulin in the system. This can happen by eating high glycemic carbohydrates.
Your immune system benefits from protein. Protein will also increase your metabolism and help with fluid balance.
Protein makes up the largest portion of your body weight, second only to water. Protein can be found in your muscles, ligaments, organs, glands, hair and nails. Protein is very important.
